A company that likes to keep in touch with the times, Canon's latest stylish compact camera, the Digital IXUS 80 IS, has been designed with spring colours in mind. Due to arrive very shortly, you'll be able to choose from Classic Silver, Candy Pink, Caramel and Chocolate all wrapped in an aluminium coating. Sounds tasty, doesn't it?
It's not just pretty on the outside either, as you're provided with an 8-megapixel sensor, a 3x optical zoom and optical Image Stabilizer (the IS of the title) to help you capture blur-free images in low-light conditions.
The latest IXUS uses many comparatively new Canon technologies. These include Motion Detection which detects camera shake and subject movement and then adjusts ISO to combat it; Face Detection which makes sure the faces of your loved ones turn out crystal clear by automatically setting optimum focus, exposure, flash and white balance; and Red-Eye Correction which automatically removes that ‘Devil's eye' effect as you shoot or during playback mode.
There are two choices for lining up your shots. You can either use the high resolution 2.5-inch PureColor LCD II screen for an exceptionally wide viewing angle or the more traditional method via the optical viewfinder. With 18 shooting modes to choose from and a TimeLapse function in Movie Mode, this should be £219 well spent.
