In a departure from the normal multi-artist format, Activision has announced that the next game in the Guitar Hero franchise will be based solely on one band: Aerosmith.
Guitar Hero: Aerosmith will feature the music of Steven Tyler and company, with players able to step into the shoes of guitarists Joe Perry and Brad Whitford or bassist Tom Hamilton. All the greatest hits will be covered, from meatier numbers like "Love in an Elevator" to ballads such as the classic "Don't Want to Miss a Thing."
The player will follow the band's career, from their very first gig through to the massive stadium fillers, with historical venues being accurately represented. It's quite a risk to base the entire game upon one band - after all, if you're not an Aerosmith fan, how appealing will the concept be? Having said that, it won't all be pure Aerosmith, as the developer is planning to include some tunes from other artists that the rock group have performed with, or been inspired by.
Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is scheduled for a June release on the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PS2 consoles.
