With Toshiba's confirmation that it was canning its HD DVD format last month has come a rush of content providers heading for the door as quickly as possible.
Movie studios such as Universal and Paramount have cancelled the majority of their remaining planned HD DVD releases, leaving many of those who had forked out for a player in the lurch. Warner Bros is likely to be the last movie studio to support the format, ironically, given that it pledged to keep releasing titles until the end of May / start of June. After that, the days of HD DVD seem numbered.
Meanwhile, speculation that Microsoft would be jumping over to instant Blu-ray support has been dampened. While the firm has confirmed it's worked on Blu-ray support within Windows, rumours of a dedicated add-on for the Xbox 360 have been silenced. It hasn't stopped the speculation continuing, however.
