Western Digital has just added a new line-up of drives to its popular Passport pocket USB hard drive range. The new drives, labelled My Passport Elite, are based around WD's Scorpio 2.5 mobile drives and come in 250GB and 320GB versions and weigh a mere 104g.

The drives are powered by the USB bus, eliminating the need for an external power supply, and feature a soft touch finish that makes them easier to grip and more comfortable to hold. Built-in features include a capacity gauge, automatic backup software and synchronisation software with built-in 128-bit encryption.

They are available in four colours: bronze, cherry red, Westminster Blue and titanium and come backed by a 5-year warranty.

Recommended retail prices for the drives are £113.99 inc. VAT for the My Passport Elite 250GB while the 320GB version will set you back £136.99 inc. VAT
