The wildly popular Nokia 6300, one of the most successful handsets of 2007, is set for an upgrade with the addition of wi-fi and rebranding to 6300i. Most of the other features that made it such a good all-rounder in the mid-range market are still here, including the 2-megapixel camera, FM radio, multimedia player, Web browser and e-mail client.
The biggest area set to push the popularity of the handset, though, is VoIP, which - as long as you can find a provider with a suitable package to help utilise the service - would offer considerable savings to the consumer.
Though not in the same league as high-end handsets like the Nokia N95, the 6300's existing popularity should continue with the 6300i, and sensibly Nokia has priced it quite cheaply at £125 before provider subsidies and other discounts, which is significantly cheaper than its predecessors at launch.
Expect the new model to be available sometime in Q2 this year.
