As the name suggests, this package really is targeted at the more advanced user. It comes complete with a phone book-sized instruction manual and is aimed at those who are really into their music - it's specifically a 64 track MIDI sequencer, meaning that you can compose directly into the program with a MIDI keyboard (provided you have a MIDI compatible sound card as well).

The actual track window consists of the aforementioned 64 MIDI tracks along with 16 audio tracks. You can also use the samples that come on the second CD to drop into the tracks, or indeed samples you have gleaned from anywhere else. It's also possible to create your own samples in WAV file format yourself, although it must be said that you'll need at least some grasp of the technical side of music to do this to more than a basic degree.

Music Centre Pro really is very well-featured, especially considering its price tag. It comes complete with a powerful mixing desk package which sports DSP (Digital Signal Processing) which can add a range of special effects like echo, reverb and suchlike to your sounds.

It's a highly comprehensive and versatile tool, although not the easiest of programs to get to grips with. Underneath the very serious features are tucked away an underbelly of extras like, of all things, a karaoke mode which displays text along with a tune so you can sing along after a few pints! MIDI enthusiasts (in particular those with their own keyboard) and all serious PC music makers will appreciate this relatively budget-priced, powerful composition utility.
